THE LIGHTBOX APOLLO EDUCATION CENTER AND NYC PUBLIC LIBRARY POP UP LIBRARY

During the COVID- 19 pandemic, many of Harlem's public libraries were closed, restricting access to reading spaces and books. Some libraries in the area continue to be closed for renovations.
The pop-up library project aims to alleviate the increased stress on the limited public libraries by creating public spaces for reading and creative expression. Cylindrical pods and colorful
cables, both design elements of the Apollo Education Center and the Lightbox, work together to create a lively space. Locations for the mobile library were determined on physical geography and radial distances to existing NYC public libraries.
