SCREENLIGHTS

Revolutionizing lighting in interior spaces

Screenlights is a concept that aims to transform interior spaces through installing smart-lighting systems. The concept aims to change the way people interact with light, creating more comfortable interior spaces.

THE PROBLEM

Have you ever tried taking a photo of an object in doors, only to realize that your shadow looms over it? If so, Screenlights is here to address your problem.

Currently, our interior spaces are made of individual lights or lightbulbs. These products provide uneven lighting, causing certain areas to be bright and others dim. Many people also often install lamps and other lights, which take up space that could be used for other purposes.

RESEARCH + IDEATION

Following the identification of problems with existing problems, I conducted some research into existing products. I then created a concept in response to the problem and research.

LO-FI PROTOTYPING

After the research and ideation phases, I created various lo-fidelity prototypes to better understand and visualize how the design would function. Small interior spaces were also created to imitate lighting conditions.

FINAL DESIGN

The final concept is compromised of three components: the light modules, the physical control center, and the smart phone application. Screenlights is made of square modules made of many LEDs. These LEDs are able to light up with adjustable intensity and different colors. When modules are connected together, they are able to display images and videos, providing another way for users a new way to interact with lights.
